MSUglobal leads the university’s development of innovative entrepreneurial learning ventures both domestically and internationally. All successful projects have a common starting point – Academic and Non-credit Enterprise Center.

The Academic & Non-credit Enterprise Center offers three distinct levels of service:

1. Concept Consulting is aimed at the MSU client that has an entrepreneurial idea and a "do-it-yourself" attitude.  MSUglobal offers resources, tools and templates that will help guide the client as they develop their program concept.  Services at this level include:

  • Access up to 2-hours of consultation with a GLV
  • Access the nationally recognized Academic Entrepreneurship Planning Manual [View as PDF]
  • Access to budgeting and forecasting templates
  • Access to best practices and successful models
  • Overview of University services and support available
  • Overview of MSU's Non-credit Registration System (NCRS)
  • Understand the potential market better through the Audience Identification Mapping Tool [View as PDF]

2. Opportunity Consulting is aimed at the MSU client that has a complex entrepreneurial idea that requires more time in the planning stages. Services at this level include:

  • Access to all services provided at the Concept Consulting level (see above)
  • Advice and consultation regarding:
    • Feasibility of concept
    • Development of a comprehensive product suite and asset mapping 
    • Business Planning
    • Budgeting and forecasting
    • Funding
    • Policy Considerations
    • Marketing
    • Sales
    • Non-Credit Registration System (NTS)
    • Client Service
    • E-commerce
  • Share tools and templates
  • Coordinate linkages to Virtual University Design and Technology (vuDAT); University Relations; International Studies and Programs (ISP); Office of Graduate Studies and other university and external resources as needed.

3. Venture Development focuses on one to two new opportunities per year that have been vetted by an academic department through the annual planning process and represent a Dean level partnership.  Venture partnerships often develop from the work that is done at the opportunity consulting stage. Today, MSU has over 10,000 enrollments in 29 degree and certificate programs, placing it in the top three in online learning among America’s Big Ten Universities according to our internal benchmarking study.
